Title : Iron
| Short Description : Blood test
| Explanation of Test: This test helps to determine total iron storage in the body, differentiate anemias and evaluate nutritional status. Iron exists in the blood bound to a protein known as transferrin or as part of haemoglobin. Iron in haemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen from lung to tissues. Elevated levels may indicate anaemia or acute iron poisoning. Decreased levels may indicate iron deficiency or chronic diseases such as lupus, infections or rheumatoid arthritis
