Short Description : Blood test

Explanation of Test: This indicator of long term glucose control is known as the diabetic control index. Glycated haemoglobin reflects the average blood glucose level for the 2 to 3 month period before the test. The more glucose the red blood cells is exposed to the higher the percentage of HBA1c. This test provides information on the success of treatment of diabetes mellitus.

Reference range: adult: 4.6-6.4%

Short Description : Blood test
Description : Triglycerides is a type of fat found in fat tissue of the body. It is converted from excess calories and stored as fat tissue. It provides a major source of energy for the body. Consumption of food rich in animal fats and alcohol are known to elevate triglycerides levels. Very high levels are associated with obesity and coronary risk. Increased triglycerides levels are known to be seen in pregnancy and some women on certain hormones and contraceptives.

Reference range: : 35 - 135 mg/dL

Title : Hematocrit or packed cell volume
Short Description : Blood test
Explanation of Test: This test determines the red blood cell mass by measuring the space occupied by the packed red blood cells. The results are expressed as a percentage of red cells in a volume of whole blood. This test is useful in diagnosis of anemia or polycythemia
Reference range: adult male: 42-54% adult female: 37-47%
